After greasing the wrong arm of the law in two continents for two years, London-based Mint journalist Sidin Vadukut has got what he deserved: a legal notice from a New Delhi-based firm for falsification of documents and violation of intellectual property rights for his upcoming book God Save the Dork.
In a media release, Lederman India Ltd‘s vice-president of mergers and acquisitions and regional strategy guru, Robert “Einstein” Verghese, has urged newspapers to “refrain from giving coverage to the book, its author or its publisher while the matter is still in the courts”.
“I request you to not carry reviews, profiles or interviews…. In order to ensure your cooperation I am willing to compensate for your troubles with certain monetary investments in the form of advertisements and cash emoluments.
“If your newspaper has any code of conduct preventing such transactions, then I can arrange means to reward you indirectly through bank account belonging to parents or spouse. I look forward to your cooperation in order to prevent great injustice and manipulation of our respected media.”
